How good is that vacuum for general household use ? We seem to get through vacuums like tissue paper and they are pretty expensive considering how flimsy and cheaply made most are.

If the Lidl floor mats are the "hairy" ones I can confirm they are excellent. For £6.99 you won't get better.

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
I was a bit hasty, dismissing those Lidl LED worklights as expensive, 'cos they're rechargeable & come complete with mains & cigar lighter USB adaptors - so I bought one! Why, I'm not sure, as have several others & the batteries last for ever. Perhaps it'll make it easier to dispose of the rechargeable flashlight that I have which is only a couple of years old, hardly used BUT won't hold a charge (not investigated possibility of replacing the batteries - but don't think it has an accessable battery compartment).

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
I have a 5 yr old Garmin Nuvi not dissimilar to the Aldi offering (although I had to purchase the map updates at £75 in perpetuity - excellent value compared to an in-car satnav map update). The maps on all satnavs appear to be about 2 years old!! The "traffic" - on mine at least - is superb. It will automatically route you around any traffic problem and is well worth leaving on, even for relative shortish journeys. It is far, far better than the "My Way" satnav on our C4 Picasso, so much so that it is always used in preference. The in-car satnav only holds 10 destinations which necessitates regular re-programming, requires a paid for traffic app to link to the phone, is not as good a guide, gives a faster ETA (incorrect) and all in all nigh well useless for us . If on a long journey where the Garmin routes you off the Motorways, we find it pays to re-initiate the journey from time to time as it will not re-route when the problem clears - and no I have no connection to Garmin
Regards, Harry

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
I bought three of those, one for myself and the other two as presents for a friends sons, they have not stopped singing the praises of them, mine came in very handy when the gas boiler failed and I had to fix it at Christmas, not so useful for getting under the dash on the C5 to fit a pollen filter, a bit 'in the way'van ordinaire wrote:I was a bit hasty, dismissing those Lidl LED worklights as expensive, 'cos they're rechargeable & come complete with mains & cigar lighter USB adaptors - so I bought one! Especilly that big blue jobbie!
There's an excellent Rolson flip-out job for when access/space is an issue - AND it's good enough for bigger jobs too.

I want a couple of cans of that VHT paint in black, to smarten up the rusty brake drums on the Berlingo

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
Now Thursday is my shopping day, so that's fine by me BUT - I have that difficulty with their Sunday specials! However, not only has Torquay somehow got itself classified as a convenience store (even when they generally closed at 8:00, it was open to 11:00) it seems to be the regional clearance centre.
Hmmmm, VHT @ Lidl's prices - & their paint products are OK

I don't think scabby old rear brake drums on a Berlingo will get that hot. They've done 129k miles now and are still on the original shoes, so can't work that hard. Citronut rebuilt the back brakes on it back in early 2015 with new cylinders, springs etc but the shoes weren't even half worn so they went back in. They look scabby behind alloys though, so a wire brush and a bit of grey/black VHT (NOT YELLOW OR ORANGE) will smarten it up a bit.Stickyfinger wrote:Used the VHT paint before, on a stove, it came off

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
Yeah, that's a bit of an unfair test for VHT - isn't that what stove paint's for?
I shall be interested to see if the Lidl's stuff is actually supposed to be good for manifolds though.
