That's a bloody shame Alasdair :(

I'm happy to offer to overhaul the 'box on my usual conditions - supply it clean to me - less car - and if you are happy for me to proceed in my own time I'll return you an overhauled one... It may be a month or three ;)

Don't you worry about it Jim, it will be scrapped and bits used....shame really as the shell is such a good one but just not worth messing about with any more.
I am not going to get into removing gearboxes and buying more oil/seals/gaskets etc.

I wonder what would happen if another oil change (and filter clean) was done now? Maybe being driven (however unsuccessfully) has dislodged some more crud which has clogged the filter already.

It felt exactly the same once warm, slipping really bad again. As said, I had to reverse it up my drive and only just made the hill.
It cannot really be "tested" legally (already pushed my luck) and even if it has an MOT I will not pay out for tax & insurance.

I also really cannot be arsed messing about under dirty cars for long in the winter when I do not need a £50 car with flaky paint, slow, petrol auto with holes in the seat covers.....not really my thing. :)

Are you talking about the Car or the Grinder? That prity much describes my experiences with Bosch power tools over the last couple of years, not made like they used to be.

You must have got lucky, my Bosch drills basically a paperweight and the 2 year warranty is worth jack because I've used the drill for drilling  . I moved to Makita for now and aspire to Milwaukee in the future.

At least the Xantia will help keep a few of its cousins on the road, its not a total loss and you learnt how much fun auto boxes are.
