407 ABS fault

Unread post by pogo001 »

Hi.
I recently intended to change my front wheel bearing. On inspection, the noise wasnt the bearing, but stupidly damaged the abs sensor. I have installed a new one, admittedly, a cheap fleabay item.
Before I did any work, the ESP light would come on occasionally, but NEVER the abs warning light.
Since I put the new sensor in, the abs has worked, but generally doesnt, and the warning light is on. I have a cheap code reader, and have disconnected battery, cleared faults (P1599) but the abs warning is still on.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem before I start stripping everything out again?

Check the resistance of the new sensor would be my first place to look. If it's a cheap ebay one it could be out of spec. After that it's outside my experience, I'd be asking too.

Good idea, but do you have any idea of what the resistance should be? If not, Ill check the other side first.

Hope it is helpful, my internet is struggling so much I can't watch it myself.

I'm sure if you google 407 abs sensor resistance you will get a value.

I'm trying to work and look at the forum on a satellite connection and for the last couple of days it's been quite poor so I can do the bear minimum.

If you disconnected the battery don't you have to do a bsi reset on that model?

Get a new genuine peugeot planet lexia system from ebay (easydiagnostics.co.uk) sells the best ones. Do a scan and check the characterization of the fault. It could be a simple issue of a cheap sensor vs. genuine peugeot or german made sensor for the 407s.

or if you find a garage/dealer/person who has the genuine peugeot planet, then give them a check. i
