Aston Martin Production Returns to Newport Pagnell

Post by CitroJim »

I'm delighted to see that a run of DB4s are to be built in my home town again ten years after the last Aston Martin was built here...

I have a special interest as the Aston Martin works is but a swallow's flight from my house...

Yay!!!

Now, how can we convince Aston Martin to get permission to use, and then to make actual use, of Hydro Pneumatic suspension on their cars?

Now there is a thought. Then get them to try Alasdairs' Activa afterwards.

Not surprising really from the makers of tractors* Tractors do not have handling as a top priority...

Ah, now I remember. My Great Uncle Jim was not impressed with the 3.5l Bentley that was the squadron staff car (he described it as a 3.5 ton lorry!). Mind you, he did like the American V8 cars he got to drive while he was over there training fighter pilots.

I think Hydractive/Activa was something rather a lot of people never knew (and still don't know) anything about - even folk who you would think should - let alone experience.

Everyone "on the inside" knew, but what on earth were Citroen marketing up to? Now it's too late.

No, I spoke to them but because they would not offer any discount for being a local I declined.

An opportunity truly lost :( The Activa was originally intended to be what became the Pug 406 Coupe... A gorgeously attractive car with ho-hum mechanicals :( Just imagine it as an Activa and it would really have taken your breath away and given that lovely Pininfarina body design the mechanicals it deserved...
