Somehow I don't think I'd need to carry out my threat, I reckon Paul's other half will soundly beat me to it ;)

Will it? That's mightily handy to know then!

Replied to Dave's post, I presume a s2 1.9td will be the same exhaust wise?

yes it will be. Only significant difference if it is OE spec. then it may well have a cat... That's no problem at all...

Does your 1.9TD have the AS3 semi-electronic pump Beko? One with an ECU?

Yes, it does.. Get a Lexia on it and check the timing on the pump is properly following the timing value as set by the ECU. If the pump is not correctly timing itself against the ECU programmed value this may cause excessive smoke too. Timing errors are either down to a duff Needle Lift Sensor or low fuel transfer pressure due to a partially blocked fuel filter/tank strainer...

Stupid question, what do the exhaust rubbers look like? Are they all the same or are they special xantia type ones?

Standard fat sort of vaguely figure of eight types... Totally standard... About three inches long by about one and a half wide with two 1/2 inch holes in them...

Aren't these guys supposed to read the info from their terminals first for each car? It is supposed to have all the info on the model like electronic handbrakes and how these should be tested etc? I really have zero faith in MOT testing stations or general 'Ford' mechanics with no Citroen experience. I always try to be present when my MOT is being done. I've often had to correct them or stop them from playing with things they don't need to be doing when undertaking the test!

Talking of Ford, spotted this yesterday - an old Ford Onion - I mean Orion - Couldn't get the whole car in as he whizzed off after a burger stop - but he had the slogan on the boot: "In rust we trust, Praise the Ford"!

And in case you're straining to read what's on the back window - it's "póg_mo_thóin" or put another way:

Cor! You mean there’s still at least one of those hideous old Orions still extant? I'm amazed... Worst Ford ever and that's saying something... It had stiff competition ;)

All the ones I've ever seen are in that hideous dirty grey colour - looked like a lot of Japanese models of the time - the Bluebird I think for one and they were equally horrible!

You're right Marc, they were all in that one dull colour! I fancy I once saw a black one but perhaps it was just very dirty

Jeremy Clarkson when he was let off his 186 MPH speeding fine by a crafty lawyer:
"But I don’t have any influence over what people do, I really don’t. When I said that the Ford Orion was the worst car ever in the world it went on to become Britain’s best selling car! It makes no difference what I say."
