Which gearbox....

Unread post by milleplod »

.....have I got in my '09 C5 HDi 138 auto? I was thinking that at 70k miles it might be wise to get the oil in it changed. Its the 6-speed box, but searching on here seems to tell me there are 2 different boxes fitted. :?

Yes you may very well be right, best if you either post you VIN, someone will look on the Citroen Service site and should be able to identify the correct gearbox.
or even set up an account for yourself, http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp

You have the AM6 (AMC1) Aisin Gearbox fitted. Many recommend getting the oil changed as the there can be some issues with debris in the oil, which can affect the hydraulic block causing issues. I've heard of some changing the oil at 30k and it was filthy! Don't believe the 'sealed for life' declarations as that is open to interpretation of what is the 'life' of a gearbox. It is essential to use the correct oil (and this can be expensive from the dealer), but I would suggest you change it at your mileage.
