I must admit that the ride on the hydractive estate is considerably better than the standard one but that means a 2.2 engine which my first C5 had but the fuel consumption was dreadful so I changed it for the 2.0. which was much better but the ride wasn't as good - still better than most steel sprung cars though.

If you are looking for an auto then you probably aren't to bothered about fuel consumption so a 2.2 might suit you but bear in mind they have DPF which the 2.0. doesn't.

I think the 2.0. auto is a bit gutless, a 2.2 would be better - if you can find one.

I agree with Jim

As I said above, the only issue I had was that in town the box was in 2nd therefore the throttle was very sensitive.

I'm thinking of Mk 1 C5s, not had any experience of the later ones.

8V engine and AL4 Gearbox Peter?

Quite a difference in power between the two so that may account for the gutlessness...

For around £100 you can have that remapped and enjoy a big increase in power and economy - Steve Walsh (trainman) has the details and the experience.

Have just had the offer of an interest free loan to buy a 90 bhp Dacia Sandero DCI. They do 70 to the gallon I know my Father has one
And no road tax either. I turned him down gently. Someone in the family has to have a big car st least. What happens when all these super minis need trailering to a garage?

I think you need to go out and try a few and find something you really like.

I quite like the look of the Logan and it comes with the Reno 1.5 diesel. It also looks very long so useful for filling up with junk! [emoji16]

Only the LX had a 90 bhp engine. Visually there are two large hoses running over the top of the engine on the right (looking at the engine bay from the front) to the intercooler which is to the right of the water radiator.

Ahh that is useful info thanks a 90 bhp would make my insurance £100 a year cheaper. As it is now with my 90 bhp xantia sx. A 110 puts it up to much to nearly £415 a year. A more modern C5 with 138 bhp and a 1.6 engine makes it group 26 at almost £500 a year. With low fuel consumption 90 bhp 1100 miles per tank full of diesel and zero road tax with just over £300 a year insurance no fap or dmf the Dacia Sandero 1.5dci is slowly but surely winning the tug of war.
