Well, I must admit to being ignorant of Barry's Bargain Discount store, despite having been on the same street to visit Specsavers around Easter time.
Somewhat ironic that :)

I generally just go to Tesco in Consett, not into the town, and then only when the moon is blue and an 'R' in the month.
It is always quiet and relatively easy to avoid the smokers and has things that my local shops (Aldi) don't have.

The magical mystery tour was courtesy of the Highways agency who conveniently closed the A-whateveritmightbe and redirected the traffic along upmarket farm tracks through Stone Heap of all places.
Took an alternative rout home and half-followed half-ignored the satnav. Probably would have been home in half the time if I'd gone through Durham, or even Manchester.

Only lived here since 1978, haven't found my way around yet :)

Here we are at the top of the steepest A road in England and with it being Somerset, the pre Worboys sign is still very much in use. Most of the inner town signs are Worboys but I was pleasantly surprised to see a good number in Dulverton (though to be fair its a bit rural and olde worldy!)

Absoulutely top quality stuff Kev, hope you enjoyed the drive? Nice to see it bang on topic for French car chat with the XM in the photo's. Looks like the summer challenge will be slipping into an Autumn/Winter Challenge now..11 boxes to go. The north-eastI may manage a bonus box from Beamish Museum, but Norwich and Jersey seem out of reach at the moment, and Scotland and Wales have gone a bit quiet! I am hoping for a little stirring in the West Country for the one in Devon couple of new members down there to infect with the obsession!

Thanks for joining in the little game Kev

Kev, that's just the inspiration I need to take the same pictures as you just have but with my bike in place of your XM ;)

I'm planning a few cycle tours and that's going to be one of them... Minehead to Lynton (or maybe onward to Ilfacombe) via Porlock Hill...

Did findo out a bit more info on the AA box at St Mary's Loch and found a rather nice pic of the loch from Geograph and put it up on Picture of the Day.

Interesting "Torch of Knowledge" sign for the School in the background, this one is from Geograph for Blackawton in Devon and is the oldest school sign in the County. Very probably still there on Main Street, it is on google street view from 2011. Plenty bonus points for a an original pic of a bike or car next to the sign!

Love those old signs :D Bet most these days would not 'get' the torch at all... They may even think it's a school for arsonists or something...

I didn't know either Jim and can't recall ever seeing that one.
Looked it up and that same picture is used in Wikipedia.

I found AA box 374 for Maerdy at the Coventy Transport Museum yesterday. It's tucked away on a pallet behind a screen in a workshop. I'll upload the photo later on. The AA website gives the orignal location as 'Maerdy Cerrig-y-Drudion - Corwen A.5 / 3 1/2 miles northwest of Corwen'.

Handy if they have a car break down in the workshop I guess ;)
