synergie 2.0 hdi cooling fan

Unread post by waveyr02 »

Hello All, I wonder if anyone could tell me at what temperature the cooling fan should come on, I was in traffic today and saw 95 degrees on temp gauge but no fan on, I just wondered if I need to investigate this.

Thanks Simon.

Think they normallly come in at 83 & 90. You're temp gauge might not be so acturate, but maybe your fan control sensor is knacked.

Or the fuse (possibly a maxifuse) could be blown. The fan could have seized after a winter of disuse - this can also then blow the fuse.

Thanks for replies, checked fuses all ok, fan free to turn, so I disconnected fan and put 12v to each terminal, seems that low speed isn't working, wonder if there is a resistor in the fan assembly that might be gone, read somewhere that high speed woundnt come on til 100 degrees which I didn't get to. By control unit I imagine that is a black box somewhere rather than a switch in the rad.

Thanks Simon.
