472 is the Cambus o'May box, so the seller must have trailered or driven it up there to take the picture, or he/she is very good at photoshop!

That's box 714 davie, it's been a while since a box fell! Porlock remains standing men and women of Somerset :!: I suspect the next to fall is likely to come from Scotland, but will it be a highlander or a borderer!

Off on tour again shortly and some of the remaining 17 may come within detourable range. The one at Devil's Bridge in Mid Wales is slap bang in a little tourist hotspot, with a steam railway up from Aberystwyth and the Devils Bridge Falls which have been a tourist attraction since Wordsworth's day.

TO THE TORRENT AT THE DEVIL'S BRIDGE, NORTH WALES, 1824

HOW, art thou named? In search of what strange land
From what huge height, descending? Can such force
Of waters issue from a British source,
Or hath not Pindus fed thee, where the band
Of Patriots scoop their freedom out, with hand
Desperate as thine? Or come the incessant shocks
From that young Stream, that smites the throbbing rocks
Of Viamala? There I seem to stand,
As in life's morn; permitted to behold,
From the dread chasm, woods climbing above woods,
In pomp that fades not; everlasting snows;
And skies that ne'er relinquish their repose;
Such power possess the fitmily of floods
Over the minds of Poets, young or old!

William, Wordsworth
and speaking of Wordsworth, not a kick in the pants from Grasmere is "Dunmail Rise" another Box waiting to be toppled. Random link or what!

Two others may, be on the radar as well....the one in Cheshire, and the one just east of York.

Have to report now that all of Yorkshire has now been toppled from the East Riding to the North Riding....namely
Yorkshire
442 Aysgarth, North Yorkshire: on A684 (Aysgarth-Leyburn) near junction with Buckden B6160
573 Garrowbay, East Riding of Yorkshire: on A166 (Driffield-York), 4.5 miles east of York, opposite entrance to Garrowby Hall

and the North West has taken a battering as well with this casualty from Cheshire
North West England
372 Mere Corner, Cheshire: on A556 at junction with A50

So 14 remain standing. All of Wales , all of Scotland apart from (746), all of the West Country, the entire County of Norfolk, all of Cumbria, and the Island of Jersey.
with acknowledgement to Delia Smith and William Shakespeare

So FCF veterans and newbies it matters not. "Lets be Havin' you". lest FCF ladies and gentlemen now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they did not seek out and meet the AA box Challenge, :!: :!: :-D

Yes it was Tuesday, but in the morning maybe about 11ish. Drove past it and pulled in at this place

Thought we might have a coffee and cake but bit too swanky for me in my jeans and DM's.:-D

Ended up doing a full circuit through the golf course and out the top entrance back on the A556. Far too busy a road to stop heading Chester direction so drove some miles to the next roundabout, did a 360 and took a left turn at the lights just before the box (A50) parked up and came up at it from behind.

Ahh ok! I did remember this thread when I went past haha. you'll find the 556 is either screaming along full pelt so no chance at all to stop, or bumper to bumper gridlock! Bit naff that you had to go all the way to the M6 to turn around though, I was thinking you hook left onto the a50 then turn it around up there, much quieter!

and you managed to actually get a picture despite me living closer :rofl2:

The Mere also has the WORST entrance of all if you're manchester bound, you're sat in the flow of traffic in the right lane basically, theres been loads of accidents but guess theres no easier way to get in there!

We were making our way from Manchester down to Shrewsbury and after the compulsory Box stopping, went on a bit of a random drive down the country roads of Cheshire to Nantwich via Anderton Boat lift. Loads of fingerpost signs on that route, and quite remarkable seeing signposts to Warrington 8 when you are in the middle of deepest countryside, and narrow lanes. Our previous trip to North Wales this year ended up in Sat-Nav disaster taking us right through the centre of Warrington trying to head north so came away with the impression that Warrington was very urban, very traffic-jammy, and a total contrast to the country iydll a mere 8 miles away!

You must have driven right through my town then!! From Anderton it will have either taken you through barnton and up onto the a49 to get to nantwich or through northwich and across middlewich and crewe!

Warrington and Runcorn are quite urban in comparison to the nearby towns. Even Frodsham on the outskirts is pretty, and the road leading out towards Northwich through Crowton is good fun at night....not that i'd know ;) but yea, there are some beautiful views around here, you're always 5 minutes from a muck filles field!

Excellent stuff Davie :-D =D> . Thats one I missed when we were up in Nairn and round about, for a week earlier in the summer, although probably driving past it! Looks like the stranded motorist without a mobile is still well catered for though :) .

The only ones likely to be in my reach now would be St Mary's Loch, or Dunmail Rise in the Lakes, so the Southerners need to be awakened!

Titlle's changed and 13 remain...and weeks of summer left!
