Vented, every time. Went from solid to vented on a couple of cars, the difference when using the brakes enthusiastically is very apparent. They take much longer to fade. I've got a set of vented and grooved discs to go on the Berlingo when the pads finally wear out now it's been remapped and the brakes are actually being used now.

Absolutely, grooves MAY be worth the extra - but I'd draw the line at drilled (for road use, at least).

Definately vented for me. Even the lowly 107 has vented discs. I've never had grooved, maybe I should have tried them on the activa.

No contest - vented is usually OE choice wherever high-performance braking is required.
I'm surprised you actually have the choice . . . If the originals were vented, then the 'choice' of switching to solid (presumably an after-market item) is really a 'downgrade', I would assume.

Nope, solid OEM disks....vented are for C5 as well. But the Vented disks seem to cause people warping problems.

Some models "appear" to have air scoops to provide venting for the um 'vents' in the vented discs. 206 does from what I remember there is (or sometimes is!) a bit of plastic to try to channel a bit of air that way.
If I was building something I'd prefer vented. I not personally go with grooves / drilling as I think that (for me at least) a step too far, plus to obtain them like this costs more too.
Generally (depending on what you're up to) you may find a higher spec / engine in that car model has vented so you can use those parts to replace the solid. Likely to want calliper carriage as well (I know you know this!) , if you are unlucky possibly hub too.

Vented front and solid rear. Grooved and drilled are for racing cars, road cars don't make enough heat in the brakes for them. Any benefits from them are psychological.
I like Mintex, road and race pads are decent. Aep are my choice of upgrade callipers.

I would've shared your opinions 3 years ago. I was proved wrong in a most scientific way by a race car designer. In doing so he thought me a lot about using the brakes correctly as well.
Quality tyres, pads and discs matter much more on a road car than grooves, drillings, ceramics and high boiling point fluid. If anything these "upgrades" reduce performance as they can't get to operating temp at road speeds.

By OEM do you mean Citroen (good) or some other brand (variable, what brand)?
Got to watch out for fakes as well, one of my better local factors got a batch from India that were fakes of a quality brand. They warped on installation then warped more on braking.

I need to fit disks and brake pads so rarely (both Citroen and Toyota) that I only fit genuine OE items. Any saving is really not worth bothering about, as even main dealer prices are now 'competitive' in order to achieve any appreciable over-the-counter sales. Prices charged to the customers having their vehicles serviced are another matter entirely!
