The 107 will be fine. My one just goes! An oil change last week. The only thing done in 8000 hard miles in 5 months. Fantastic little cars.

So we have a clean pass, as expected to be honest.
Discovered though that some low life has left a nasty dent in the offside front wing sometime in the last couple of days. No note of course! Surprised it has taken this long given the stupidity of the school collection traffic...will have to have a chat with some body shops see if it's sortable or if I'll need to source a new wing. Grrr...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog (Xantia, 107 and "others")
Just gutted to get home from the test to notice the wing having been pranged! Well peeved about that. Our neighbours have had their car hit too (in their driveway!) by the school mob. At least once a week I have to tell someone to hop it because they're blocking me in the driveway when I need to get out.
...knew I should have specced the 107 with the optional rocket launchers...
Nothing much anyone can do about it either...idiots will be idiots, and parking restrictions won't make the slightest difference as the council hasn't the resources to enforce them and we all know that they get utterly ignored anywhere within 1/4 of a mile of a school (been there, spent 7.5 years in transport and have had the pleasure of trying to keep transport around schools moving!) Anyway, so may as well not exist.
Just hope it's not going to cost the world to sort. Poor thing's been pranged three times now and never once been our fault or even us having a clue who was the guilty party.
School will be getting a letter that will leave a few people's ears ringing though...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog (Xantia, 107 and "others")
I think a wing would be easy enough to change on these, and if you are lucky you may find one in the correct colour, so it could be a quick cheap fix. Still bloody annoying though.

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog (Xantia, 107 and "others")
Trouble is Zel, so many yummie mummies run their little treasures to school in bloody great Chelsea tractors they can barely control and those have so many blind-spots they likely didn't even see the 107... Such damage that occurred to the 107 is almost inevitable...
I think the school run is positively bloody dangerous for cars and people alike, especially the kids. Wherever possible they should walk or bike as we did when we were kids... Lifts to school were unknown and only for pansies..

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog (Xantia, 107 and "others")
I recall one occasion where somebody parked their original Mini across our driveway when Mum had to go out. She was not best pleased, so we (Mum, Max (my step Father), and I) moved the Mini. We left it neatly parked, but none of us (read that as ALL of us) noticed that we had left it on double yellow lines. Half an hour later it had a ticket on it. Said idiot was not impressed, as a week or so later they parked a bigger car across the driveway again (we saw them doing it late that evening), so this time we all moved it somewhere else. The result was a major traffic jam the following morning, due to a car parked across a major junction. The police got involved, but their attitude was that the driver got what they deserved, and clearly indicated that the driver was in trouble, either way, and that WE were not to blame.

If you have not yet done the rear callipers, get hold of a nice long breaker bar (I know that a nice gentleman near you has one), and then use it to evenly apply the pressure. The calliper bolts can shear if you are not careful, so take it carefully. Something that also seems to work it to get a replacement set of bolts, and then the original ones seem to know that there are spares, and come out without much grief!

You're too polite James. Some oik in a MK2 Granada blocked the haulage depot entrance many years ago by my gran's house.Hell Razor5543 wrote:I recall one occasion where somebody parked their original Mini across our driveway when Mum had to go out.
