Crane ? Ramps ?

If it happens to "fail on the road" then this would be best to arrange a time so everybody can co-ordinate ?.....eg a few weeks time when the weather is better ??

It's not a day's work Davie, I can only do the job if you leave the car with me and allow me to take my time with it...

Alasdair, I have all I need, even down to the official tool to set the release bearing :D

I reiterate that I can only do it in my own time... Maybe a week, maybe two. Don't rush me or the offer will be withdrawn...

It would be left as long as you need Jim. There would be no hurry. I would get it to about maybe Dundee without the clutch then let AA flat bed it and I would bus home. That's the beauty of it being a car I don't have to get fixed straight away.

You're a lucky man Davie ... arrange it for Glastonbury week, makes for a credible story ... car and tent travelling 'sarf'. Who's the oldie headlining this year? Become a fan and bone up on their back catalogue ...some cds in the changer, bish bosh!! And ...dont forget a slave cylinder setup.

Ok guys, I will say a huge thank you to Jim, the car is going to be transported to him, as he has kindly offered to fix it for me. I do not have the capabilities to do a clutch, that's knowledge or ability, and due to extortionate garage fees and the fact that there is not a decent garage around here the outcome could have been much worse. It is an inconvenience, but at least it is not my daily so its not the end of the world. I would also like to say that this is something that could not have been predicted, and in no way do I hold Chris in any way responsible for this. I would think that he will be horrified when he knows of this. It's an old car, it will break! It would have been unpredictable that this would happen. If Jim hadn't kindly offered to help me I would have had to sell it as is at a big loss, or even scrap it, which would have been a disaster. However it is going to be a chance for me to fly down and get it back, and maybe even a wee chance for me to meet some of you guys from down there. Might even get a three activa gathering at Jim's if Alisdair pops across. I was wanting a few days away from home anyway, so a fly/drive sounds ok.

If you fly down when I'm off shift Davie, I'll pick you up at an airport and run you up to Jim's.

That would be brilliant Ben. I'm a bit gobsmacked to be honest with the help I'm getting from the good members of this brilliant forum.
