.....the above dash is from a saloon of a car with an intriguing two-tone colour combination of rose taupe over sandy beige. In the flesh, here's a Morris Oxford Estate (or should I say "Traveller") in those colours

Quite easy Jim, just a weekly job and you need good hearing and a big rubber tube + 3/1 oil or redX for the dampers :)

Ahh :-D The old traditional way of doing it! Needed a bit of practice :wink:

The Gunson 'Carbalancer' helped de-skill the job a bit but only for twin carbs...

Never to young Jim, sound meters in a smart phone are quite good, still an "average" however but OK for SU's on a branch.
Webers are used by the clever boys and are often on direct manifolds....x6

It is always fun watching a skilled guy go at them :)

I had a 404, one of the first diesels, nearly deafened you at 60 mph but a lovely car, seats like armchairs and a column gearchange like I had never had before, it was crisper than a lot of modern floor changes. Indenor XD88 engine, noisy but the first diesel that you could actually feel pulling.

Similar shape the the Oxford/Cambridge/Wolsely/Riley/MG.

Most French cars of that era were beautifully comfy, a result of the really poor roads of the time in France..
