I hope not.
Let's see, but I will ask my local Citroen dealer to check.

What do you mean by the EcoMode? Is there a trick to by pass this feature for the boot opener to work every time?
no tricks, car says not enough power, so nothing electric works without starting engine and there is no 'set' time either, depends on how long driving, battery state and lord knows what else, 1 day it can be 30s and the next a whole minute if you're lucky :)
electric boot doesn't shut so according to the manual to close the boot you pull down the boot using two hands and on a Tourer you could literally hang from it before the resistance 'broke'......now mine is just like a 'normal' boot, easy to do manually without 'breaking' the cluch on the motor
currently '06 C5 2.0 HDi auto estate Tip run and France trekker - well should be!! occupied currently by '10 Superb DSG 170 elegance- whistles and bells that work

Ok, I thought you discovered a trick to bypass the Ecomode.
Apparently latest ECU update helps.

Hi, I'm adding this here as it relates to the motorized tailgate on a 2012 c5 tourer.
Mine has been intermittent for ages and often had
to be forced open or closed. That stopped yesterday when my son forced it too much and broke one of the pistons
Only way to get it closed was to cut out that piston. I also removed the second so it's now opening by lifting it and, it is heavy.

Q. Is it possible to fit normal pistons and forget about the electric. The door button still works ok. If so, any advise on source and size?

Thanks for any help.

They're completely different parts and sizes for motorised and non-motorised, but can't really help you there. I would source a pair of second and struts of the same type if it was me.
