The propellant for the model jet engine will be that used in airbags and the guano is an ingredient in the powder used to lubricate and stop the folds of material sticking together...

It was Jim, without having a high level if nitrates it tends just to make a lot of smoke with little power so not really that good as an explosive.....

Yes, the link is the propellant in the Jetex motor is guanidine nitrate the same propellant used in deployment of some airbags. The Guanidine bit was oriiginally derived from Guano.

Back in the 70's I built a Keil Kraft F86 Sabre and powered it with a Jetex, getting the cartridges to light was a right palaver, the best way I found to get them going was to drill a hole in them (two cartridges for a full load) and thread the fuse through them. The Sabre didn't last very long and in a rather realistic event caught fire due to the flammability of the dope covered airframe

When the Jetex was lit it produced a fair amount of thrust, so much so that one time I lit it on the ground when it wasn't in an airframe and it took off into flight like a Doodlebug

I'm reasonably sure the ones we used had a hole for the fuse preformed in the fuel.
Evil things only ever worked when you weren't expecting them to.
