Always thought that was a silly place to park them so regularly, I have to say they are lucky they only lost "bits"

Ruddy thieving gits!

I saw an H Van on a trailer on the M4 this afternoon. Managed to get a couple of poor quality photos;

I travel a lot and sometimes this kind of surprises appear  .

They have doubled their H Vans. Soon there will be a fleet I guess. That also explains why the H Van did not have number plates. I was wondering how it was possible to be on the road "legally" without any plates :) Didn't think of carrying on a trailer.

A lot of them use the cab as extra space and the engine bay for a small genny.

I bet there is a market for H Van shaped trailers :)

spotted a Citroen H Van yesterday,

It was a short wheel base one, in regulation grey and on X-reg UK plates....and it was on a drive not 2 miles from our house!
bit like this but not half as tidy, and a bit of curtainage so probably a bit of a "Camping Van"

Image

I console myself with the assumption that it could have been just visiting. I mean its madness for anyone to buy an H-Van-noisy, spartan, underpowered, unreliable, constant drain on the wallet, totally impractical. After all I need a bit of time, somewhere to put one and work on one, a van and a trailer to get one, and a large piggy bank and other such trivialities before there's any likelyhood of getting one myself.

So, why the tinge of green when I saw one on someone else's drive :?:

Spotted in Bikes Etc this month as a Christmas gift suggestion. An H Van 'Broom wagon' 8-)

From the website:
The broom wagon, or 'la voiture-balai', was introduced to the Tour de France in 1910, the year the race first went into the high mountains. The broom wagon follows the last rider on the road and when it catches struggling riders, they must climb off their bikes and retire, handing in their race numbers as the van sweeps up the remnants of the peloton. The vintage Citroen ‘H-Van’, a popular model used for such duties, has become a recognisable Rapha ambassador at road races and events around the world. In fact, we now have a fleet of four, acting as reliable service vehicles (most of the time) for Rapha rides and events when, in addition to picking up stragglers, it also serves the finest coffee and food. The Rapha H-Van is also a fixture in Rapha Cycle Clubs worldwide.

I want one to add to my collection! Here's the link to order one...

Never realised the H Van ever played this role :-D

Now at £25, I could probably get one of those on my drive to keep up with the Joneses! My initial thoughts seem to have been proved right....haven't seen the HVan again, so I could still be the "only HVan owner in the village" if I stop procrastinating and do something!

After all, I've already got a Traction Avant with that je ne sais quoi patina

I was looking for a picture and came across a few that I have taken around Beaune in the last year or so that might be worth sharing:

This one is usually sitting beside the main ring road, moved every couple of months to avoid looking completely abandoned.

Caught this camper at Flavigny sur Ozerain (the town where the movie Chocolat was filmed). Sorry about the rotation.

This looks to have been recently restored.

The next pics were taken at the local classic car show:

You would not catch me with a Michelin man dancing on my head!

If it wernt for the label, I would have sworn that it was from the early 1930s. So much for Citroen avant gard styling!

Back on-topic at last. Not sure if there is a typo or two in the signage?

Great examples of quirky looking commercials from Citroen. If i am not mistaken we have the quirkiest of the lot, the Belphegor, followed by the U23, and the P55. The camper is also a head turner A Renault Goelette perhaps?

Superb :!:
