Nobody told me there was an Auntie Desert for slap! When? Where? I've been looking for one of these to slap for ages!

It's not restricted to eBay. You regularly see Volkswagons, Zantias and the like for sale, not to mention the car parts they can't spell. You'd think the people who receive these ads would be issued with a list of common words, but no.
I once saw an advert in a Dundee paper for a motorbike that had a racing fern. After thinking in terms of reed valves for a while I realised that a Dundonian had phoned the advert in and it was a fairing.

Lets face it English is a crazy language! There’s not egg in the eggplant, no ham in the hamburger and neither pine nor apple in the pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England. If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sweetmeats are candies, while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat.

After all those spelt the same and pronounced differently you then get
rough
cough
bough
lough
though
thorough
thought
through
Aaaaagggghhhhhh.
Think I've spelt that right.

Regarding Auntie Desert's brother, formerly a squid. Surely not. It is the octopi that go on aunties.
