It's not restricted to eBay. You regularly see Volkswagons, Zantias and the like for sale, not to mention the car parts they can't spell. You'd think the people who receive these ads would be issued with a list of common words, but no.
I once saw an advert in a Dundee paper for a motorbike that had a racing fern. After thinking in terms of reed valves for a while I realised that a Dundonian had phoned the advert in and it was a fairing.
