Sticky suspension
Hi all. Another problem . Previously the suspension stuck in low at the rear after leaving it overnight. Now it is stuck in high at the rear, very boy racer with the front down on the floor . It will only clear if I drive it down the road and it settles after 300Meters or so. It is riding a little high at the moment but cannot see that being the cause. Seems the height corrector is sticking?!? Only happens after citrobics and leaving it on high. Tried to jar the mechanism with a broom handle, but to no avail. Any ideas anybody ?

Re: Sticky suspension
You are probably right in it being a sticking height corrector. My first Xantia did this, and what I would then do is to put the lever into service low, and then back to normal. This usually worked.

Re: Sticky suspension
You could try depressurising the system and restart the car i only suggest this as my mk 1 estate decided to get stuck up at the back and wouldn,t budge until i depressurised it using lexia, worked for me you never know.

Re: Sticky suspension
the Xantia system is different to the C5 one unfortunately. lexia won't depressurise as its a belt from the crank that drives the pump as opposed to the electronic pump.darbuck wrote:You could try depressurising the system and restart the car i only suggest this as my mk 1 estate decided to get stuck up at the back and wouldn,t budge until i depressurised it using lexia, worked for me you never know.
My Xant sometimes gets stuck on low at the back if its left overnight on low. the rear corrector needs some work as I found the P/O cabletied the linkage together I have to jiggle the height control for it to respond. It will, however, correct for height as expected when it is sat on normal, even correcting if you get back in the car a short while after turning the engine off

Re: Sticky suspension
Thanks guys. The height corrector has been removed, the cradle cleaned and lubed and the corrector itself overhauled. Will probably have to check it in situ, but need it supported as no way am I getting under it in this state, hence the broom handle . I will have to get some spares to refurb the one removed and refit it at a later date.
Current probs also include drivers door window, rear n/s locking, aircon and speedo. Mmmm ....
