The bellows are the reason they fail as that after a good few years of hot and cold cycles and engine bay dust dirt and road dirt flicked up from not having an undertray the rubber gets dried out. Inevitably the only way to get around the issue is to get a silicone one made up with bellows on it. The bellows are critical as they allow for the twisting motion of the engine to not pull the airbox from its mounts or stress that inlet pipe. This is often why the ductape and other methods fail. Another much cheaper option is to use some of the cold air feed pipe thats often available from motor tuning shops and ebay. it flexes to the angles that you need and just needs clamping down around the metal turbo inlet pipe which in itself is an odd shape like a squashed egg really.
I'm looking to measure the circumference of both ends to see if there is already a suitable silicone hose out there as mine is starting to split and even ones i have been able to be found from breakers in europe are the same so not worth buying.
Theres a dealer in spain who has the last one stocked and am just waiting for them to get back to me about shipping before i get it and use it as a template. It was also used in the 406 SRi Turbo but they are even fewer in numbers than the xantia turbo.
I have two good intact and unbroken v6 pipes but they are far too short and wide to even consider using, shame as well as they are in great nick
