I'm not sure it matters but as I recall on the ones I've done the 12v is the top connector and the neg is at bottom in the double socket, the thin wire is the control connector, in its own separate socket2cvman wrote:Hi Guys,
Have a C5 pump from ebay:)
Can anybody tell me the colour(s) of the cable that runs from the 40amp fuse to the pump?
The pump has two large cable one is 12 volt the other is earth, but which is which at the pump end, have used a multimeter but still not sure.
Cheers

Hi,
Had a quick look at the connector, the top cable is Yellow/Green, the lower Grey.
My thoughts!!! If connected the wrong way, will either fry the semiconductor switch on the pump body or the pump/motor run run in the other direction????

That's the right way round.

Also (in case no-one has told you) I believe that the control signal to the pump is 5V, if you put 12V on that wire it will fry the electronics.Gibbo2286 wrote:2cvman wrote:Hi,

Hi,
Thanks for the heads up on the 5v control line.
Also tried the Solenoid/Shuttle valves in the pump body with 5volts and they don't operate? but with 12 volt are clicking?
Need to measure the current, but my multimeter fuse is blown (£££)

Re: Thread Size
Are they the same as the electrovalves ? eg : 12 volts to fire them and a lower voltage to keep them in position without overheating the unit ?...eg the mysterious "Wave Form" ?
Great project...love it.

I've got a spare pump, less the electric motor here under my bench if you need one . I'm not far away from you, I'm just up the road in Bream.

Re: Thread Size
The first C5 I bought was down on the floor, I repaired the motor on that one, it was just a case of the wet had got in and corroded away a bit of the copper wire inside, six mil of cooker wire soldered in fixed it.
A young local chap brought me another one to fix and a spare, I made one out of two and have the left over pump sitting here.
