I especially don't like exposed aluminum when there is any chance of salt about, hence the paint (with etch primer under) or a wax coating/white grease.

Any stone chips are easy to spot once cleaned a bit, a quick wire brushing is all it takes so far, so apply rust treatment, chassis black, stone-chip ...... very happy with the condition of the undersides so far.

IT's ALIVE !.............then dead....then ALIVE again !

Off ramps this afternoon, new brakes are wonderful, no water leaks, dry squeaks gone...then HISSSSSS.....steam hisssss, aggg bugger !............ at the top of the hill happily, so turned it off and coasted home. One popped hose, outlet to swirl pot .rats
Another hose fitted after removing air box, one HOT HOT arm and hose re-attached.

Its ALIVE again, oh the Joy, oh the panic, oh the Joy....

Nope, that's the one on the V6 Jim.
I have looked thru the gator and the piston feels/looks clean and unmarked (from what can be seen), I will take it all off today.

?? is there a way of taking off a Ram (from the rusty one) but then sealing the pipes to keep the car movable ?
I need to keep the Rusty-One as a mover ATM as it is stored with next door as a mobile garage door lock :)

Not really Sticky, it would be difficult as the ram forms a droplink. If you could make up a crude substitute link and link the hydraulic pipes together it might wok but that's as much work as sorting out the V6 ram, nice not more.

You can fix the V6 ram in-situ no worries. Follow the guidance in my blog....

Amen to that. Can't believe the things it's impossible to get for a Xantia these days...
There was even something I checked for the C5 that was no longer available! I mean... WTF? :grr:
Absolutely crap. I can still get all sorts of even random bits of trim from Honda for my early 90's Preludes! PSA after care absolutely sucks these days.

A closer look
Image

I cleaned....and just had to stop it dripping, running down a lip, and dripping onto the Activa ram bellows half way down and out of sight behind, well that added to the puddle I thought was 100% ram leak, but I wonder how much ?...

A bit more metal protecting to do before it has to suffer British summer weather, all will clean up well with a small headed long handled wire stove bush, I do not want a dry day car only, just one that sees zero salt so a good 3m undercoat will be fine with dinatrol sprayed around as well.

It always did. This is nothing new.

This is why there's so few old Citroens of any sort left. No parts = scrap car = another sale for Citroen..
