Well, although I have had personal ownership of 3 cars (and the use of several company vehicles) I only felt the need to name my current Xantia, Gracie, based on the last three letters of her reg, GAC.

I've always wanted to name my cars but have usually failed.miserably. Any names ours have had have been inherited from the previous owner.
Denzil the diesel Rover 218 sld turbo
Penny the Mini 35
Rosie the red 306

And of course Tracy the trailer

Our T25 is called Betsie again from about 2 owners a go. I do get the Alice connection from Voyager, a favourite of ours that. Not sure what part of the interface is so communicative on the T25 though!

My Xantias have always been my favourites and are the cars I have enjoyed owning/ driving the.most. I'm going to make it a point to name it now

Over the years I'd never bothered with names for my cars - until I bought the Dee a few years ago. I was told it was named "Eloyse" by the original owner and as it had been called that for over thirty years kept up with the tradition. When I got the DS from Melbourne decided to call it "Vicky". My CX Pallas had been named "Bronzey" by a previous owner and although it is now painted in Rescue Orange (close to Mandarine) it is still called "Bronzey" The first of my Familiales came from Queensland so it followed my tradition and was named "Queeny". With the first anniversary of my acquisition of the Familiale from the Patrick Rugg collection approaching a name was needed. Having tried, and failed, to get Nigel Painter to tell me if the car had a name during his ownership I finally opted for "Pascale" - chosen because whilst on Raid Arctique the only French car was driven by a Dutchman with a French lady friend. When they were late arriving on one of the days stages it was because they had stopped for lunch - a picnic by the roadside. When he was asked about it he simply explained it by saying, "She is French!" to cover her need to stop and eat in the manner to which she was accustomed.

My 605 is named Kim after an infamous local football groupie some years back, the name was conferred on the basis of everyone having had a go of it. Not dissimilarly, the 405 is named Paris as in Hilton - because it's not too pretty and it's been around the block a few times.

The Berlingo is Freddy, from Crazy Little Thing Called Love ("Ready Freddie!"). Because it's red.

On that basis every car I've ever owned should be called Christine. They've all bitten me from time to time. My latest attacker was a Nissan Micra and all I was doing was trying to give it a nice new pair of wiper blades

Ungrateful little thing it was...

probably playful attacks, like my yearling kitten he bites, claws and launches himself at me all the time, but doesn't usually sink his teeth or claws in,

Skoda got called some choice words today when it attacked me. Was filling the washer bottle (which due to the location involves sitting/standing in the boot if you don't want to spill water in the boot, especially when manhandling a 5 litre bottle of screenwash.

Did the bonnet not choose that moment to catch a gust of wind and fall off the stay, then clock me on the head?

wonder if it were the same gust of wind that caused the bonnet to slam shut and trapped some tool on the slam panel, of a F*I*A*T Scud O camper van i was working on yesterday

Ay up!!!

I've only owned Citroens.

First off, I borrowed a Xantia from Work many moons ago and my sister named it Fifi the f@@@@ing Frog. I liked the name so it stuck. Every Citroen I've had has been christened Fifi and this one is Fifi VII.

However, we also like making phrases out of number plates (passes the time on long journeys) and ours comes out as Love Your 52 Madly Xylophoning Otters. So Otterchops has also stuck!

Incidentally many years ago I helped restore a '58 Fury. Lovely looking car but what a disappointing drive!
