i borrowed the old guy over the roads MAP gas torch today, i have borrowed it before so i have my own bottle of gas for it,

i mamaged to salvage the Solex manifold today, lots of heat and the first out of the two sheared of 8mm threaded bolts gave in, but not till welding a nut to the protruding stub of thread 4 times, as it would unwind a little, and even winding it back and forth still kept shearing off, so it came out in 4 pieces,
the second of the two again lots of heat and 1 nut welded to the stub came out in one piece,

BONGO

she has her original manifold and the Solex carb she arrived to me wearing all bolted back together, and running and driving with the throttle and choke connected,

the exhaust is removed from the Y piece back at the mo, so she realy sounds like a racer

Good work Malcolm =D>

Those little MAPP torches are jolly handy for those kinds of jobs... I'd be lost without mine...

My brother's GS 1299cc powered 2cv runs a straight-through pipe from the Y - piece with one cherry bomb silencer at the tailpipe.

i saw a 4 wheeled Lomax'y type thing i believe at Brookland museum one year, at the air cooled day they used to have, run by the Tatra club,

this Lomax'y thing had a G engine with twin straight through stainless steel pipes and very large fan tail's/dove tail's at the ends,
now that did sound fruity

I know I don't have the greatest taste in cars, and I like the three - wheeled Lomax, but the 4 wheeled one is one of the horridest looking things ever in my eyes!

Obviously, I tried to buy one some years ago, a green one that was on eBay, but was outbid.

I've seen other colours of Lomax 3 wheelers, but never a 4 wheeler.

Vaguely considering buying a good 3 wheeler if the insurance pays out on the DRK and just selling the salvage back to club members for parts.

Went down to see Malcolm with my BX17TZD yesterday and saw Audrey as she is now called. Looks good and now can be fired up and runs ok on her existing carb. Just needs a new exhaust and i suspect an MOT wont be far away. Well done Malcolm!!
