Do the seats fold down properly flat and give you at least 6 foot length , and room for 2 side by side? Its surprising when you look into it how many offerings there are of "tailgate awnings/tents at various prices to combine the tailgate sleeping quarters with a larger covered and weather proof area. Not half as cheap as Sticky's solution thoughCitroJim wrote:A Xantia estate converts into a double bed with the rear seats folded.. Surprisingly spacious...
Some of these proffesssional micro camper conversions based on the Citroen Berlingo/ Peugeot partner/Fiat Doblo amongst others are again pricy, and probably try to incorporate too many features although ingeniously packed in to the small space.
Saying that the Berlingo could be a very practical vehicle, but is it large enough to meet the proper double bed in the back requirement, and perfectly flat fold down seats, and avoid any foot dangledge out the back. Theres plenty of these ready made tailgate awnings/tents for the Berlingo.
Practical is not a bad thing, but then again you have to have a smile on your face turning up anywhere in a CX Safari, providing you could keep it on the road, and not on the back of an AA Van!

Oh yes Neil, Xantia estate seats really do fold completely flat...

Yes. I have slept in one for a few nights like this and I'm just over 6ft.NewcastleFalcon wrote:Do the seats fold down properly flat and give you at least 6 foot length , and room for 2 side by side?CitroJim wrote:A Xantia estate converts into a double bed with the rear seats folded.. That bit extra in the C5 makes it very comfy for me at 6ft-4....also with the width, it makes a big difference, it all seemed cramped in the Xantia (only did it once in that)

I will admit that I was very full of cider each of the nights I spent sleeping in a Xantia..Stickyfinger wrote:That bit extra in the C5 makes it very comfy for me at 6ft-4....also with the width, it makes a big difference, it all seemed cramped in the Xantia (only did it once in that)

Anglia Car Auctions have a sale on Saturday 4th April at the Cattlemarket Kings Lynn.
Plenty to choose from, anyone fancy anything from the gallery. There is an SM under £5K included.
Bearing in mind my current estate car fascination this may be a decent car if only it didnt have the dreaded word "Auto" in the title Worth a couple of hundred if no-one else wants it.

They thought of everything in those days Adam, except an indoor loo...
Changing the bulb is a bit tricky though... Best method is to park it by a low bridge and work from above...

Well the bus originates from the West Country Jim, and is of a simliar vintage to me, so you may well have hopped on one of them in your youth.
Course if you were going on a decent coach tour you would want one given the panoramic windows treatment
