Shove in a Rover V8 desiel on Veg.....job done

Profit a free V8 (veg) VP and instant death at the first wet corner

Other than the engine, I cannot see why anybody likes these piles of total joke metal....and the engine was not that great anyway

Some of the cars of that period were truly awful, especially the ones that had been modified for the American market, like the rubber bumper MGB and the TR6 with the strangled engine.

I'd say most were truly dreadful, not just some...

Yes Jim, but some were REALLY awful. The first time I drove a rubber bumper MGB I very nearly turned it over! The idiots had just put some 2 or 3 " shackles between the rear leaf springs and the body completely upsetting the nice low center of gravity. This was to raise the bumpers to an acceptable height for the yanks.
I'd still say the Lancia fulvia coupe was lovely.

Well I have now had a look at the sales prices achieved from previous sales, these two 175's caught my eye from a pure nostalgia point of view.

Firstly we have a BSA Bantam. A friend of mine acquired one of these in his early teens for farm track usage. At a stroke our "Soap Box" carting a la "Oor Wullie" was overtaken by the sheer excitement of something with an engine! This one at the October 2014 Auction went for £550.

And then we have a Honda CD175 from 1977. In 1979 I bought a four year old one for £180 which in today's money, if this "Historic Inflation Calculator"is accurate is equivalent to £977.49 now.

This one went for £990 at the December 2013 sale.

...and this fetched £7,150 at the December 2013 sale, and it has to make an appearance on the nice 2-tone thread in my book!

Nice project for someone!
I didn't think an SM would squeeze into the £10,000 limit but here it is at £5,000

Plus another 10K at least to make it good...

I can't imagine a new crank being readily available from your average Main Stealer...

I still dream of owning an SM... It's my aspirational Citroen.

HandH Classics sold this for £6,750 at Chateau Impney on 3rd December 2014

Bit too difficult for a whatsthisthen? so here's a bit of info on it from the sale particulars.
The Type C, otherwise known as `Cul de Poule' (hen's bottom) was first shown at the October 1921 Paris Salon, in order to meet demand for a small, economical car. Also labelled the 5CV, it was Citroën's first mass-produced motorcar and sold between 1922 and 1925. This delightful Yellow over Black example had an early conversion from Cloverleaf-style Three-Seater to Four-Seater Tourer. It was imported to the UK from Mallorca in 1964 and was in regular use until 1985, when it was placed under cover and left for 16 years. Spannered by Simon Hawkes Classic Restorations, comprehensive refurbishment by the late Alfred Hill began in 2001 and, though all but finished, was ceased in 2003 - since when the little Citroen has clocked-up just 24 miles. `FMV 7B' now comes complete with Black tonneau cover, spare engine block, green log book and lots of paperwork. Still needing finishing, it nonetheless has Gallic charm aplenty! -

Another old Citroen, well within the £10k limit, built in Slough. This 1934 Citroen Ten Rosalie sold for £6,780 at The Pavillion Gardens Buxton on 12 November 2014.

Like the model "T" when the Citroen Type C was first produced it was only available in one colour....Yellow!

Some debate about it but the Type C, evolved first into a C2, and then a C3, and the most likely of those based on the chassis number on the sale particulars, is that the car sold at the auction was a C3!

So here we have a nice pair of C3's about 90 years apart, don't think I have ever seen a yellow pluriel in the flesh but I do like it :)

£1500 for the Range Rover if it isn't rotten doesn't seem bad given that they have always seemed to fetch annoyingly good money. Annoys me because I've always fancied one.

Only if it's a V8 though...and first thing that would happen if that the exhaust would get fiddled with, because I know from prior experience that it can then then make a noise something akin to a 1960s Ferrari...which on the one we had in the garage never failed to make me grin like a giddy five year old every time I drove it. ...especially every time the revcounter ventured above 3500rpm. Well when the revcounter was working anyway.
