Activa rods

Unread post by Matt H »

I recently changed the Activa rod bushes, and found that the rods themselves are badly worn. I thought that they were still available from Citroen, but it seems that one side is now NLA :?

After talking with a former Activa owner recently, he reckoned they could actually be repaired...

Anybody ever tried?

No, but I've thought the same Matt.. Build then up with Chemical Metal and grind/sand back...

That should last a while as long as they're kept well greased...

A skilled person might be able to build them up with weld too...

New nylon guides are easy to make...

Interesting! I certainly think that it's something i'd like to try. Can't make it any worse than it is now!

Any tips for removing them? I've heard that it can be a bit of a pain...

Matt, the rods are not hard to separate. Just move the ball and socket to the maximum extent of their travel and keep going a bit... A bit like dislocating a shoulder...
