Very handy having a vehicle that turns into a filling station Malcolm. Especially an Esso one  My favourite petrol 8-)

Gosh, that takes me back Malcolm. Fill up with Esso and put a tiger in your tank!

I used to have a few Esso tiger tails. They used to dangle from my bike handle bars...

Esso used to do some good collection series in the 70s. I well remember some football-themed ones. You got an aluminium medal in a paper sachet with every gallon of fuel and a nice presentation board to keep and display them in...

I wonder if any of them still exist?

Do you remember when they started giving away glasses with petrol?

And no, that was not to drink it out of either

And Green Shield stamps?

I hate the smell of the stuff and try always to stand down-wind of the pump when filling up. Thank goodness it's no more than a monthly job for the C1 :-D

Esso 1970 World Cup Coin Collection, i think I got the full set, but stiil only £30 for a pristine set on e-bay, so maybe not such a "valuable investment" as it turns out.

Someone's going to post up the tiger tail so it might as well be me......

Ahh yes, that's the one Neil :-D I never did get the full set :( Dad didn't always get fuel from our local Esso. Often he went to the local Jet station because it was a bit cheaper but they never gave anything away...

The car with the tiger tail has got me stumped already. I thought it was a Ford Consul but it isn't is it?

I am not sure I would get away with two Image 's in a row :!:

I have no idea what it is just yet, just a random image from a google search.....the tail is a bit faded though....this looks a bit more orangey

regards Neil

Course if you ever strayed into a Shell station you may have picked up "Historic Cars" or "Man in Flight" coins, but e-bay prices are considerably less than the football coins from Esso.

This is probably just for the north-east but there was an issue of "plastic heads" from Cleveland petrol stations of "Joe Mercer's Great Britain Soccer Squad 1971"

something like this

just thought i'd add these picys as it is an eater-e-er like the H van i spotted,

the bus is a static bus cafe ( 1066 double decker cafe ), with upstairs eating and across the other side of the car park a children's play area with seating and tables for the little darlings minders,

the owner of the H said he had only just picked it up the day before, and that was the first time he had put fuel in it,

he will be serving nosh from it at events and the likes,

it lives in Bexhill

Nice H Van spot Malcolm, but I feel you may have had enough virtual pints following your Le Mans H-Van spotting frenzy :)

So instead of a pint how about a gallon, this stuff looks like it could be quite palatable, although don't expect a free plastic head of Joe Mercer's 1971 Great Britain Soccer Squad..
