Davie, there's no hire car, no whiplash, no storage costs, no recovery and no transporter required. It's a straight forward pay me or fix it, I've had an estimate of £1500 - £2000 plus parts for the repair. Which if I'm honest wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, potentially the car will owe me £5000 if/when it's repaired.

Now we all know I'm never going to get that money back, this is and has always been about the car. I no more want to see her broken than anybody else, but at the moment, I'm just trying to get them to give me salvage rights, which they aren't doing........ that's all I'm holding out for, once I have that, I then need to decide what I'm going to do.

Having said that, I've been a bit cheeky and made them an offer for the salvage. Hey, you can only ask...

Oh and I've also played the "good customer service" card as the third party insurers are my insurers on both the C6 and Peugeot.........

It will cost them less it you keep it than them picking it up, storage and disposal. Hold out for it they will give in eventually. Then you can decide whether to fix it, keep it, break it (hopefully not that) or sell it. I think it will end up good and she will live on.

I may have a cunning plan, to get the ultimate 'rep mobile'........ which could mean breaking her, but for the greater good.....

Does David manage to get his V6 activa insured ok? Obviously it's got to be a specialist company due to the modifications etc. If your going to break it this would be a good way to go.

I once enquired about Activa V6 insurance Mark and found it was not a massive problem because production V6 Activas exist.

Steve,

As per my post in the other thread, do it! If you want a proper run in mine feel free to come up and I'll get it out of hibernation for one last blast.

I've had a further email from the third party insurers this morning, offering me the salvage for 20% of the settlement figure, After speaking to Will, also this morning I've decided to accept the offer and Will has agreed to pay me the difference...... so she will at least live on......... :-D I'm advised that the potential new owner is a member of a 'forum' though I haven't been told which one, or for that matter, the potential owner. 8-[

I decided last night not to got for the V6/Activa conversion, I thought that knowing as little as I do about the V6  without adding the complications of the Activa as well, it was a nightmare waiting to happen. [-X

All I will say is that apart from the accident damage, they are getting a car that owes me far more than money, it's owes me blood, sweat, tears, sleepless nights, frustration, aggravation and yet it all pales when you drive her. Taking her to the bodyshop the other day was like driving an old friend......... anyway time to move on  I'm looking for something else, but I'm not sure what yet, we'll see............

I'll leave the thread open as it will something for any potential new owner to refer to...........

Well you will get a line under it Steve, and it's been an experience for you, some good some bad and some ugly. It's good that she will live on, it's such a nice car. On to the next one I forsee an XM on your horizon[emoji12]

I never buy a lottery ticket. Waste of a quid lol. Have to be a c5 then just to rag to work and back to save the 407 for fun and the c6 for special.

Steve, I'm pleased this has resolved in a satisfactory manner :-D

I know exactly what you mean in all the other ways. I've been there so many times... And still go there regularly...

Agreed on the XM. They're now for the dedicated enthusiast with no others needing attention.

Looking forward to seeing what replaces the V6. It has to be something really special and how about something a bit older like an SM, DS, Traction or even a GS perhaps?

I'd suggest a CX but I think they're a bridge even further than an XM and they're a bridge just a bit too far unless it's your only classic car... You, like I, have another two demanding attention...

Davie, I do the lottery every week. Gotta be in it to win in you know  I won £25 the other week... First win in years mind...
