what is this ?

Hi, my S1 Xantia, built into the windscreen scuttle is a lock that fits the ignition key. What is the purpose of the lock ? probably a silly question. it sits right hand side of the scuttle

it to switch/disable/enable the alarm on and off,
i believe it have directional arrows for on and off on its suround

around that area ...there is a sound like " long wave radio trying to tune in ! " I guess the alarm must be faulty, cheers Terry.

The siren on my S1 alarm doesn't work (the indicators do flash if the alarm is set off) and I've been trying to work out where the siren disable keylock is as I know it exists somewhere but I don't have an owners manual.

I don't remember seeing anything near the scuttle that looks like a key hole ? Does anyone have a picture of where it is ?

The disable key is only on the early S1 models. Up until about 1996.

I don't know the answer for a later S1 either Simon....

Simon if your car did have the disable switch/key lock, it will be fitted in the edge of the plastic screen scuttle, were it meets the top edge of bulkhead, and towards the N/S,

uf it were there you cant miss it it looks like the end on view of the ignition lock key hole

When I first saw mine I thought it may be the clutch master cylinder

Soon worked out what it was for though.
