Mine has 215/55/16's on at the moment. When they wear out I'm going to fit 205/60/16's, specifically Dunlop Blue response. I've run these tyres on the wife's Merc c class and they are brilliant, superb wet grip, low rolling resistance and the quietest ride I've ever experienced. They have a slightly bigger overall diameter than the 215's, 70 on the speedo is 71 and a bit, I think they will be a great match for a C5.

it definitely says on the placard 205/65/16's so im going to go half way and get 60's as the cost here is bloody ridicolous

thanks lads

The cheapest option, they're generally half the price of 16 inch tyres. The difference in cost is hard to understand considering there's only an inch difference in wheel size. Mytyres are doing the 205/60/16's for about 80 odd quid at the moment which isn't too bad.

Got new tyres lads tracked and balanced discovered a lot of runout in the front wheels so put on the back massive improvement (205/60/16) much less road noise aswell unfortunately a lot of knocking coming from suspension but cant tell whether its front or back.

Common causes are

Front = Drop links, cheep and quick.....shows mostly on the return after a speed bump.
Rear = Rear Arm Bearings, not cheep and a (can be) a PITA to change if you leave it to get worse.....shows mostly on compression as you go up a speed bump. If this, get it fixed as it will get harder to repair and cost more.

If it rattles from the front, it could be the drop links (commonly) or other joints, the rear swing arms either creak and groan when you raise/lower the car or go BANG on speed bumps :)....test by pushing down on the rear hard and looking to see if the rears "lean in"

I always use the sill/jack areas for axle stands, all other times it goes on a ramp with slide jacks

Mine makes a creaking noise if I stand on the boot lip and jump up and down, and a cracking noise on bumps on the road. I imagine that the arm bearings are shot. Both rear wheels look to be vertical though and it handles fine.

That's the right sort of noise for them.

She doesn't creak but she seems to rattle for every little bump

Usually this would be an issue on a cheap car, which it was, which would have me sticking it on eBay, and likely getting near as damnit what I paid for it. However, for once, because I like this car so much, and because we screamed across Belgium and a little bit of France in it, I'm going to give it a second lease of life and actually get it repaired.

I've already contacted my favourite Citro-boffin to arrange both sides to be done..
