Remove, clean and remake all the connections to the starter, and do the same for the battery leads at both ends. If that doesn't work then worry about the starter.

Double post removed Mike...

I'll be interested to hear where she's split herself...

What you need to do with the starter motor Mike is measure the voltage across the battery direct and then at the starter motor itself when cranking to rule out wiring... So often it's the battery clamps at fault where they're crimped onto the cables.

The starter motor is a fun job on an Activa...

It differs in that it's a bit of a PITA to swap Mike. I fancy you need to have to big pipe off the throttle body and partially remove the oil filling pot to make space to tease the motor out...

Leak is probably the PAS pipe - that's exactly what my HDi did. Which probably means it's knacker's yard time, as the pipe is NFP, and a complete ball ache to change. There are repair possibilities, eg Plaeides, or this one: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =7&t=49073" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mike, is this your red Activa that's burst a pipe? I'm still keen to offer to rehome her if you get to the stage of scrapping her.

Hi.

Is the PAS pipe not available from someone on here now? Or is that a different pipe?

They look like a brilliant investment Mike! Hopefully they'll let you get a proper look under them to see what's going on.

Do the ramps have some sort of mechanical interlock, so they stay up as the hydraulics pressure drops (as it will given time). If not, then I'd defo be using a couple of axle stands

I think I've just seen my Christmas present! :-D

I need another set of ramps anyway as my machine mart ones aren't very high nor that sturdy - those would be absolutely perfect for raising the car within the confines of a single garage. :) In theory two sets could be used as a poor mans hoist to get both ends in the air a good amount at once, jobs like handbrake cables and exhaust would be so much easier... =D>

If you don't mind me asking Mike, how much were they and where can they be found ?

I am going to treat myself to a set of those. Just the job for levelling an Activa too...

Do get someone else to do it.

Don't try yourself.

I'd have thought anything but those ramps for that job Jim, they have the variable factor built into them as you have separate hydraulic rams whereas traditional ramps can be compared/measured and won't really vary under load.

Good thinking Richard

There's enough variables in an Activa as it is  :rofl2:
