Nice work on the cruise control Steve, I guess it does pay to check the simple things first.

Broken cruise control seems like such a first world problem, until you're used to it working then you quickly realise just how tiring and boring it is trying to maintain a steady speed on undulating roads...(not to mention the constant distraction of taking your eyes off the road to glance at the speedo)

I don't find cruise that much use in the UK to be honest unless I'm driving the Berlingo, where I set it to 65 and just potter along. Traffic speed varies too much to use it under normal motorway conditions (though it's handy for the average speed limits). I feel very uncomfortable without my feet on the pedals when I'm going fast, say late at night doing 90+ on the autobahns...

Well, the chap came today and took the Xantia out for a drive, which he loved, he likes the way the car drives bit isn't sure about the LPG, and isn't going to rush into a decision just yet, which is fine.

I want to try and get a couple of jobs done this week, like the drop links and then I plan on taking her to the XM celebration at RAF Cosford in September, before she goes away for the winter.

Unless, somebody offers me money..... bit we'll see.

Just to be clear, Steve's Xantia drives MAGNIFICENTLY. 84 pages of aggro seems to have paid off in spades. It's the sweetest driving Xantia V6 you could imagine, and somehow less roll than others (I'm a past owner) without being harsh. As Steve said, I'm not sure about the LPG....

I'm regretting the 42k mile S1 I turned down three years ago because it had some minor issues.... but it never drove as well as this, nor did my S2.

Could I ask what's bothering you about the LPG? Apart from the lack of boot space, I can't see an issue. I've had 3 LPG cars and it's not been a problem at all

The boot space.... As SWMBO said to me, if it's not going to be a family car, why don't you get a sports car, so I've been off testing a Honda S2000. Chalk and cheese, but I've already got a C6 and CX.... the main objective is to keep down the mileage on the C6.

I had a Civic Type-R with a very similar engine, and I loved it. I've never driven an S2000 sadly, only been a passenger in one. Lovely cars

My cousin, when he decided to buy himself a new car, tested 3 different ones; Honda S2000, BMW Z3, and the Audi TT. Based on where he lives (West Sussex) the Audi came out best in the handling stakes (but he did say they were all good), which is what he ended up buying.

No, Bob is a very capable driver (probably inherited his driving skills from his Father, my Great Uncle Jim), and the roads where he lives (around Burgess Hill) suited the Audi (and his style of driving) best. He made sure to drive all the cars he road tested around the same roads, and drive them as best he could. His current car is an Audi TT 3.2L RS, and it is a really well setup car.
