From what I can see if the back of the car was up on ramps we could remove the rear rubber bushes and drop the entire exhaust down at an angle without disturbing any joints and do it in place. I think its only rusty on the bottom side where condensation has pooled anyway, so a 180 degree lap welded patch is probably all it needs...

Great news Simon, well deserved after all your hassles with the old one. I hope this car serves you well and you get the enjoyment you wanted out the last one, but didn't really get.Mandrake wrote:Yes, it flew through!

Not a blip or burp all the way other than a coolant temp drop issue that worries me the first time but she reaches the many leptoons quite quickly so that soon got reigned in and the cruise is different from my 2.5xm as it seems to adjust in 1mph increments instead of 2-3 anyway all good and another spin tomorrow!

Re: Simon's new Xantia V6 blog
Although I'm sure its technically digital, the cruise adjusts in an analogue fashion - hold up or down and it slowly increases or decreases the speed, and then locks at whatever the current speed is at the moment you release the stalk.
I'm pretty sure you can make adjustments smaller than 1 mph, as you can easily match the precise speed of the car in front of you.
By the way when you re-engage cruise after using the brakes, flicking it quickly up resumes the previously memorised speed while flicking it quickly down resumes cruise at the current speed.
I'm not sure whether the S1 cruise has quite the same behaviour - I haven't thoroughly tested it yet.

Re: Simon's new Xantia V6 blog
It feels odd to be honest and a little slow but has the true retro-ness of the accelerator moving under your foot when it changes! I haven't driven a car in a while that has done that as I never got a chance to really test the cruise on the last one. Should be the same across the board, it's how the xm works Simon jut with bigger incremts

Re: Simon's new Xantia V6 blog
Yeah it is a bit slow to make a big adjustment to the speed - I normally use the brake or accelerator to quickly get to the desired speed then flick the stalk down to memorise that speed and activate. I only use the the stalk for fine speed adjustments and to engage/disengage.

It's great isn't it. Like a ghostly foot on the throttle... I love it.KP wrote:It feels odd to be honest and a little slow but has the true retro-ness of the accelerator moving under your foot when it changes!
Yes, all vacuum systems are slower simply because they have to generate the vacuum to operate the bellows... I never find it a problem.
And yes, the stalk behaviour you experience is a bout right Will...
Never forget inside the ECU is a Z80-based 8 bit microprocessor. It's not short of a bit of wit

Good job you don't have to programme the cruise control every day from a cassette tape!

Re: Simon's new Xantia V6 blog
Quick question for the experts - how do I re-program the immobiliser code ? The owners manual is missing in this car (something I also want to rectify at some point) and I didn't have an immobiliser or alarm on my other S1.
I ask more so that I know how to avoid accidentally changing the code through fiddling than some burning need to change the code right now
Also if I disconnect the immobiliser will it remember its code if I ever reconnect it ? Is the code stored in the immobiliser unit, the engine ECU, or both ?
One more question while I'm at it - where is the keyhole that enables the siren ? I noticed when I set the alarm off from disconnecting the battery the headlights flashed on reconnection but there was no siren...
