Well, OK, that does sound bad, but how big is the tank?northern_mike wrote:That's nothing, my 3-wheeler would take over 6 tanks to do 1000 miles!KP wrote:If you think the thirst on yours is and Jim try 3 tanks to just over 1000miles!

I might just bring my Lexia with me on Thursday anyway, (and multimeter) maybe we can figure out what's wrong with Steve's 30 pin adaptors.... Assuming that mine actually works!Hell Razor5543 wrote:Next time we meet up Steve I'll bring my full Lexia kit with me. It'd be interesting to see how the adaptors work on your Xantia.
I don't suppose you could post those pinouts James ?

Yeah I think a bike engine or a beetle engines 3 wheelers tanks isn't going to be more than 45-50litres at best.
A xantia tank is 65-70 so in looking at having used 195litrs approx...

Tank size?!
So the 1.1 8v pushrod unit then
I've had one before in a campus and they can be quite frugal even when tuned.

I had an R4 with a (approximately) 680cc 4-pot pushrod engine that thought frugal was wasteful. Used to fill it up once a month, used every day and a trip to Whitby every weekend.*KP wrote:Tank size?!

It sneered at petrol pumps

I squeezed £21 in it this morning at £1.31/litre, so about 3.5 gallons...KP wrote:Tank size?!

Driving it normally and not thrashing it everywhere, it does between 45-48mpg. It might now do a little more now I've sorted the carburation, air filter, manifold leaks and put a cold air feed into it.
Thrashed, it drops down to about 37mpg.
It's got a big valve polished and ported head, a reprofiled cam and a lightened and balanced bottom end. It still sounds like an asthmatic old man though..

So about 17litres
I use Momentum so am looking at £1.32 at the cheapest I've found it so far
and that's around £85-90 a tank

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Just got back from the National, and after very little driving over the weekend, which I have to say was most enjoyable......... The Xantia has another issue............ and not mechanical............ for the second time in the space of 2 weeks she needs another windscreen due to a stone hitting the screen on the A1 as the "boulder" I saw bouncing towards me looked like..............
I am please to report that other than that she behaved perfectly and I'm now considering the paintwork, that should then give another certain Scottish V6 a run for its money............

Still, at least you know a fitter who knows exactly how to properly replace it. The sealant won't have gone hard yet...

No, flat-beds are an over-rated experience I find...Trainman wrote:I didn't fancy sitting waiting for a flat bed.....
I seem to specialise in rust-proofing them with LHM

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Argh sorry to hear about the window Steve...
I went for over 10 years without a single flat tyre, mere weeks after I fitted brand new tyres to my previous 2L Xantia I got two major punctures - one a nail which was repairable (just) but the other was a huge icicle shaped spike of concrete that went straight through the tyre and destroyed it!
Needless to say I was not happy...
Oh, and my current Xantia I discovered a month ago has a nail in one rear tyre and a screw in the other rear tyre, and judging by the fact that they're not losing any pressure, have probably been there for months!!
(In fact the nail one looks like it has some sort of tyre weld around it, so may have been there since before I bought the car...)
