Re: Battery relocation
The principal is very simple, big thick earth cable into the boot crossmember (not a thin bit of metal). Then a sod off big cable for the positive feed onto the starter motor and then take feeds from that into the main fusebox.
Personally though, I wouldnt. It's a lot of hassle and although you're moving weight from the front to back you are then making the o/s a LOT heavier than the n/s

Re: Battery relocation
Maybe it doesn't have to be the boot then, maybe the rear divers rear footwell?
The problem that's the most annoying is the running of cable as the xantia was never designed for high rear electrical loads

Re: Battery relocation
You can possibly run it along the tray carrying all the hydraulic pipes to the rear Will..KP wrote: The problem that's the most annoying is the running of cable as the xantia was never designed for high rear electrical loads

Re: Battery relocation
Would that support big enough + cable though as it would need to be chunky to supply the starter as the easiest way i see is to earth the negative near the old tray and then somehow mate the old + lead onto a new one possibly with some kind of block like half a Anderson connector or such like allowing easy removal in the future if needed.
Other option is a smaller lighter AGM battery as there isnt a huge load on the battery once running so you just need enough to crank for a few seconds...

True. The TCT is never a hard engine to start...KP wrote: you just need enough to crank for a few seconds...

Re: Battery relocation
I'm still not convinced moving the battery is the answer as in the scheme of things the battery isnt that heavy. Now an LPG tank in the Boot......................
Also, don't try and reuse the original battery leads, you will regret it I promise

Re: Battery relocation
If I did it then it would be quick release clamps like i put on the TD before i sold it.
TBH i think the easier route is to get a lighter AGM battery. i wonder if there is anywhere that makes a plastic bonnet for the xantia at all as they weigh a fair chunk of meat as well....
