gearboxes

Unread post by chrisbradleyuk »

I have an automatic c5 VTR estate but am unable to correctly identify the box: when searching only two types appear for the c5: In my requested documentation from Citroën, states: the box is an AM6B automatic but I cannot find anything about it, even under 'diagnostic' 'transmission' it says BVA AM6. help? The car is an 06 with an 08 engine, replaced under warranty by main dealer. I tried to source by serial number but failed.

There should be an ID Plate near the filler hole on the top of the box

My advice if you do have an Aisin Warner TF-80SC, AF40/6 autobox, never drive through standing water, and change your ATF every 40-50,000 miles.

You can read about my experiences with that particular box as fitted to a Vauxhall Vectra here

I now have a separate cooler fitted, as there was always the suspicion that the original cooler in the radiator fitted to the Vectra, was a source of contamination of the ATF with anti-freeze. The cooler arrangements on the C5 may be different/better.
