These are 2, Newcastle spots, but I haven't seen them for some time now. One is/was a "Hotel du Vin" promotional vehicle, and the other "The Elan Creperie" which used to make regular appearances at the Quayside Market. The Elan Creperie man opened up Elan Pizzeria in Seahouses and I haven't seen the van at the Quayside market recently.

Must be ten years since I was last on the Quayside other than an afternoon further down the river at "The Bike Hub" where my daughter worked for a while.
Never been to Seahouses.

Watched "Classic Car Rescue" Series 2 Episode 4. On Channel 5. I can see how the program might irritate, but I enjoyed it. I mean its no "Wheeler Dealers" and none of the mechanics are a patch on Ed China. :)

The price apparently paid to purchase the absolute wreck of a VW Camper Van was just over £4,000.
However despite being an absolute wreck the price commanded for the restored article (£21,500 apparently) still left enough room for a sizeable "profit"

Maybe this explains the exodus of Citroen H vans from France with car transporters loaded to the max.
A decent restoration, a bit of Catering Equipment, and hey presto you are talking over £20 grand for the humble H.

Hope us dreamers aren't going to be priced out of the market by speculators. You should always be able to get a rusty old van for next to nowt in my book :)

Yeah I was very sceptical about the chance to win the Camper. It was restored in Toronto, who knows how many countries take the show, texting or phoning as always is ridiculously expensive, and sending your entry in on a postcard-that's never going to see the light of day again.

Sometimes I like to watch/listen to stuff that annoys me, its nice to get involved by having the odd rant at the TV, or the car radio :)

Anyone from Cornwall?

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Anyone from Cornwall come across Café Irie in Newquay?

They have a mobile wing, and yes Café Irie on the move is a Citroen H Van :)

Cafe Irie

I am quite prepared, if original photographic evidence can be provided and posted up here to offer 199 points to any forum member who tracks down this particular van.

Regards Neil

Will keep my eyes open for it! ;-)
The cafe at Godrevy has an Airstream van as a mobile outlet, Now, If an H van towing an Airstream That would be worth So many points! :-D

The 2CV Shop at Sutton Veny, Wiltshire does a bit of dabbling in Citroen H Vans.

2CV Shop

Its only 10 miles from Mere, and lurking in the background is the YAPP wines Citroen H, which Jim posted up to claim his 50 points!

Lets have a look at James' photo's

Now that's quality, but its on French Plates still!, and what I know about the anatomy of Reading you could write on a very small postage stamp although I think I did a circuit of it about 3 times trying to park somewhere near the railway station!

50 points in the bag for that one James :)

The Oracle is about half a mile from the (currently being updated) station, and is where the old Reading Bus depot was.
