Steering rack issue!

Unread post by KennyW »

Hi All,

The power steering rack has developed the following problem when you turn either right or left about half a turn on steering wheel, there is a distinct increase of resistance but after you go past this problem disappears until you return to the same point.

Is this the power steering ram showing signs of wear :?:

Is your UJ well greased/lubricated?

As it is when you turn both left and right I wouldn't suspect the ram as it would be in two different positions depending on whether you are turning one way or the other.

Rory,

After posting gave UJ a spray with plusgas and problem solved. Will lubricate it with Lithum grease soon.

Kenny

That's great news - we love the quick easy fixes. I use spray grease that turns up in the 99p/£1 shops occasionally.
