Tuning box - but where?

Unread post by MonkeyMark »

I've been given a tuning box (I know, not as good as a remap ) but the c8's engine bay is so cramped I can't find the correct plug for love nor money.

Can anyone tell me where it's located please?

The plug is located on the underside of the fuel rail, it's at the front of the engine. The plug is red , and just slightly to the right of the fuel filter, but very difficult to get to.

Thanks for that. Your not kidding its hard to get to. I can get my hand onto it but cant quite flick the catch to remove it. Ill try again later.

While im looking for plugs i found this one. It just below the fuel pump, the higher of the two there. A grey plug with two brown cables going into it. The cables are worn through the insulation to the piont where one only has two copper strands still holding. Its frayed right into the back of the plug so cant even cut and crimp.
Can anyone tell me what type of plug it is and maybe where i can buy one from?

Cant get the picture to work so hope the link works instead.

You can I believe connect it to the other end of the cable but I have found that even more difficult to get at than the fuel rail.

Managed to cut and remake the faulty plug so thats sorted.

With the tuning box, the red plug is two pin. Can anyone confirm thats they correct plug? The tuning box I was given is three pin so either ive got the wrong box or the wrong plug.

The two pin and three pin boxes are for different fuel systems. One is for Siemens the other Bosch, but I can't remember which is which.

Bear in mind the c8 uses the 2.2 16v engine not the more friendly 2.0 8v engine.

not sure if the rail is in the same place on the 2.2 .. I know the inlet is in the way though...

Mines a 2.0, not a 2.2.

Ahhh the 2.0 16v 138 did make the C8. Well thats GOOD news, I hear the 2.2s make a habit of breaking belts because of the poor design or blocking of the drain channels that then lets water into the cam belt area.

If you look at the injectors there's rubber pipes running between them on the Bosch system, no pipes means Siemens system.
