If it were a DNS issue where your ISP's servers are taking ages to resolve the address then it should only happen the first time as the result should be cached, and the server's IP doesn't change that often.

Speed wise it's fine. Pages loading in a couple of seconds, but I need to log in every time I want to post a reply to a different thread.

Cheers for the info Mark.
The logging in issue is likely to be a corrupt cookie.
Clear them from your browser and ensure the log in automatically box is ticked when you next log in.
