I've been having fun today, fitting the replacement pump in the wind and rain.
I was hoping that I could remove the pump without disturbing the cam belt (like you can with the XUD9 & XUD11 engines) but no such luck.
The new pump is in place and the cam belt, top engine mount are back in, I'll be putting everything else back together tomorrow.

The pressure reg and sensor never got posted to me so I decided to replace the whole pump with a known good one.

The car is now back together and running, it started first turn after cycling the ignition to primb the system.

All the power is back and initially it ran fine, but has now started cutting out (before it was cutting out as soon as the revs rose above 1500rpm),
there doesn't seem to be any trigger to it, i.e. will rev to 4k and doesn't cut out at a particular revs.

I didn't get the fault codes reset after changing the pump, could this be the problem ?

At the moment I'm trying to get someone round to reset the codes and read any new ones.

Take a look at this. Appears to be a fault with the low pressure pump.

I'm still having problems with this, it starts and runs but cuts out 50yrds down the road.

I've swapped the high pressure pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure sensor in the fuel rail and in tank pump relay.

It's not running on any more but is cutting out. That said it cut out after 50yrds then once restarted drove without any problems (not in limp home mode) with good power, reving over 4k, I then turned it off and it again cut out 50yrds later, then drove 3 or 4 hundres yards before cutting out again.

Could this be the in tank pump, I thought these just died, as in either worked or didn't.

Please help as this is doing my head in.

The MIL light is still on.

Right I've done a leekoff test and the results are
No1 45ml
No2 55ml
No3 60ml
No4 50ml
this was while idling for 10 mins
These are Farley accurate but not spot on as my measuring cylinder only reads in 10ml increments (baby's bottle).

From what I've read they should ideally be within 10% of each other, but would this amount really drop the rail pressure that much ?

taffy, I'd love to get it on a Lexia or pp2000, however the closest I know of is 15m away and I don't think it's safe to drive it that far when it's cutting out so much.

It idles fine,
it revs reves fine (not under load)
when driving it dies at low revs (overrun) but not all the time, and dies at will at higher revs.

It's hard to say, it cuts out more often when slowing down on no throttle.
It will also cutout on light(ish) throttle but not as often.
I haven't given it full throttle as I'm only going around the housing estate.

Yes, dickieG plugged my wifes old 406 2.1 in when the injection pump was messing about.
But the last time I took the 306 off the estate it was cutting out every few hundred yards
