Hi Malcolm,

I spoke to the guy from the local MOT station today. He said that no seats or seat belts, doors don't come into it. Doesn't matter whether they open or not. So as has already been said, it must depend on who does the MOT.
I'll contact you after my holiday as have a couple of things need doing.
Cheers

seems the usual with MOT rules, lots of grey areas, its always said take a car to ten different MOT stations, you will get ten different results,

my MOT tester said
"the only reason he could see he would need to open rear side doors were there were no seats/belt fitted, would be to look for rust in the prescribed area/s"

obviously in the case in question it would not be seat/belt mounting areas, but any suspension/steering mounts,

just because these points are under the car dose not rule out the above floor within 30cm's circumference of there mounting points,
Regards, malcolm.

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for checking all that for me. It doesn't really matter much now anyway. After trying out the car as a 'camper' I think (as with the tent), that I'm just too old or have too many aches and pains to pursue the idea further. So I think I'll just get rid of the '806 and get a 'normal' saloon car. The 806 runs well, and is a good car, even though it has got things wrong with it, most things are just cosmetic or easily fixed. And it does still have 6 months MOT left on it.
I'll probably advertise it on eBay (unless anyone here wants it?). Ideally I'd like to just do a straight swap for another (any) car. As long as it's a 1.8 - 2.0 ltr with some MOT I'm wide open to offers. The 806 is a 2.0 HDi Quicksilver 7 seater on a '51' plate. So, if you have anything to swap Malcolm, your daughter could end up with it after all !!!
Regards

No, not anymore. Kipping in the French Alps at -7 just about did it for me !! This is the first camping trip I've been on without taking the tent. I used to be a hardened camper once. In fact, I can't recall ever going on holiday without camping, right from the age of about 5. but no more. I have hung up my tent pegs now for good. It's Travelodges and B&Bs for me from now on.
OK, I'll PM you now.
