I think actually, not many French can be arsed pulling the heater box out.
 I'm still slightly disturbed I was able to ID the vehicle from the interior handle, pedals and gear knob.

True. :) There are a few variations too. Nothing for it but to:
Excusez-moi, avez-vous un chauffe boitier pulseur s'il vous plaît?
Best I can tell boitier pulseur is heater box.

A slight twist of the lingo and that could be a throbbing hot box... Which might get an offer you didn't expect.

I think you'll just have to take another look it must have clips internally or suchlike. Was there any signs of empty holes for self tappers to refit it together again afterwards ?

Sadly, no signs of "boite chaud pulsations" nearby as I write...

However, the clamshell is split with no loss of gas! :-D There were two hidden clips in the area between the TX valve and the housing side. Photos tomorrow due to lack of good light. What a mission - a friend assisted, and it made all the difference.

When you look at the way wiring was going with those cars, you can see why CAN BUS is an improvement?

Actually, I disagree. The XM/605 wiring across the dash is a massive swag of conductors, but you learn to get into diagnosis pretty fast by colour and likely gauge. With CANBUS arrangements, a strained or chafed connector (they are still just crimps) can give dodgy signals across everything and not be very easy to diagnose.

Also, in vehicle repair - I can put a feed into any circuit of a non-multiplexed car and do something like operate a seat or window while everything else is out of action.

Progress is slow but steady:

Needs a subwoofer, then it will be a throbbing hot box.

Back still looks like a tip.

And because I like to make most things a little "random" - here's some music:

Don't mind the Shads, got a thing for the Spotnicks, too.

In a bittersweet mash-up of where it's at, this car is my daily driver now. That's OK; it needs minor fettling mechanically (clutch, gearbox bearings and rack ends) and at over 200K miles it would be smart to lay in some spares for the starter and alternator.

I've got a private plate coming: MZL-70V (Anyone who remembers Fiddler on the Roof will get it.) Being infamously tight it really hurt me to spend the money!

The bitter side of the story is a drunk friend having a "test sit" in the car, spilling an entire large Mickey Dee's iced drink over the centre console and carpets. So they have to be stripped out and cleaned again. I was furious for a good 36 hours straight.

I think I'd have been mad for 48n hours at least Adam...

You're lucky with your plates.. That plate is impossible in the UK as the letter Z was not used in that format. It is in the new format UK plates...
