Re: Strut
Anti roll bar drop links would be my first port of call. I have never heard of a strut bearing going on a Citroen - but I suppose its possible but I don't think it would rattle because its under permanent load.

Re: Strut
I have seen strut bearings go on AX/106's before, but Peter is right, I think i'd be looking at the bottom of the suspension first

Re: Strut
Drop links are a common replacement. Various makes and prices - generally you get what you pay for, cheap ones may last for 10,000 miles on poor roads. Lemforder branded ones have the best reputation for lasting, but are most expensive - the factory original N/S drop link on the Green Lady failed around 75,000, the Lemforder replacement is still sound at 114,000 miles. You pays your money....
Drop link nuts can sometimes be swines to remove - following this technique isn't guaranteed to avoid problems, but it does minimise the risk and does include a safe and relatively easy way to get seized nuts off.

The Berlingo rattled like hell when it's strut top mount failed. More of a metallic tap than a knock though. Terrible on roughish roads. Fine over speed bumps.
I've gone through two top mounts on the left side in two years! Still on the same one on the right but I know it was replaced a few years ago.
