Has anyone had one out, to see how far around the back the plastic trim wraps?

I'm workshopping the idea of removal/refit to the nearside one during the major repair process. It looks like the angled knife could slice it out fairly well from the back but want to be sure.

Nobody chopped one out? What about XM quarter windows - surely they'd be similar?

Long ago I have taken this pic in a scrapyard. I hope it gives some clue about how the window is fixed and helps you in planning the window removal job.

Hi Adam..

I surely have removed a Fixed rear quater XM glass, from BOTH sides of a Hatch XM..

However, some points Adam. Id not cut one out of a car that Im gonna fix one back in.. This is due to the marks made to the outer paint work when cutting out the glass..

The items I used was Two Handle Grips, and Cheese Type wire, but it took some time! Watch when cutting, if you come across any metal work while cutting it snaps the wire.

These are ALL I used to do it...

Thanks gents; the photo is a great help also. Looks like the pull knife would do fine on the inside - if the panel was being repainted, scratching is not a worry.

The bonding is that tough i do not find the pull knife strong enough or good enough to dig in. The only way however the heat in your country may contribute to softening the bond which might help.

It does make an amazing difference, yes! Our mobile fitter normally uses a pull knife for everything but works from the outside. He's getting a bit rough these days, though.

Last screen we had to saw out was a 605 one, to save the glass.
