Back To Renaults... a Renault Scenic II (2004)

Unread post by kentc5 »

Hello Guys,

I just bought will go and pick it up tomorrow a Renault Scenic II Dynamique 2.0 Petrol. It is a fully spec'd model as it has panoramic roof, full leather interior, parking sensors, all around electric windows etc ...
There are a couple of things I need to sort out as soon as I get it.
The car has 73000 on the clock. I assume I need to change the cambelt...

But there are a couple of electric gremlins I need to sort out to make the car to my standards.

The sunroof is not working... maybe it needs a reset and a battery removal?

Rear driver window does not work it will only move an inch up and down and that is me pushing it with my palm. I guess the motor plug need to be checked? As there is no motor sound at all.

Parking Brake I think it does not work... did not have time to check yet... but it has the Service and P on the dash. (in case you ask it is a manual gearbox not Auto).

Check Emissions warning comes on, I think this is as simple as a Oxygen Sensor?

Boot will not open ... :-S ... seems non responsive to the button between the number plate lights.

And last .... the Hands-Free system seems not to be working... ... I can only unlock the car with the key-card button and start the car only if I put the card in the slot. However the car has IR sensors behind of every door handle and also the little buttons on every door handle including the little button in the renault sign in on the boot. ?? Is there a way I can reset this?
The car has come with only one Key Card, and it has 3buttons on it.

Cheers in advance
Vasilis.

I think you need to buy yourself a Clip clone. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a list of error codes as long as your arm. Mine had a fair few faults but none the same as yours.

I have thought of a clip ... need to find out what to buy thought ... that will support my car. Don't want to end up buying something that will not work or do half the functions :(

It does go lovely on the motorway... and funnily enough ... I did see high 40s MPG (48-49MPG) Which I am very pleased to see :) :)

Sounds like exactly the kind of Scénic I'm after myself! The 2.0 is just brilliant, and it's hard to find one with the full leather interior - pics please!

Ok your issues. I've already replied to your engine running issue thread with my thoughts on that.

The sunroof does get lazy with lack of use, it's quite often the dial switch - remove it and get some electrical contact spray into it. Electric windows are also a very common failure, it'll likely need a new regular.

Boot catch is another common failure, I've replaced this on my Mégane. Easy to remove once you get the boot open.

Key card: when you open the drivers door does the dash say PLEASE INSERT CARD?

Yes it does please insert card ...
drives me mad. I am starting to believe they have disabled the hands free feature for some reason....
Or a more crazy idea... one of the key cards is lost in the car.... hence they disabled the feature lol...

Will take some pictures now and post :)

Yep, the feature has definitely been disabled. It should say PRESS BRAKE AND START when you open the door.

The Scénic equivalent of my Mégane. Exact same spec, colour and engine. Lovely!

Yep it'll need a session with CLIP

i wonder if the hands free is disabled because of the auto brake issue, guess if you fix the brake you will fix the key issue.

The UCH was incorrect for the car, a cheap fix... but sold the car as I did not want to spend anymore money on it :(
