Evening all

Can some kind gentleman please check service Citroen and tell me what model of Citroen xm the steering rack bearing the Citroen Part Number 4000 L3 fits and what it would cost to walk into Citroen and buy one today?

doing an all families search it comes up with fitting

£8400 is a lot, ive re built a couple and i must say there isnt 8k worth of stuff to it and there certainly isnt 8k worth of precision either, the reason i ask is a trader has advertised one on the xm forum and im tempted, he mentioned its worth £7500 which i thought was a bit of an exaggeration, it seems not!

Aww no, it's got to be worth more than that Mike...

I reckon at least £34... That's not much more than the cost of gaiters... Worth it for the inner ball joints too...

I take it the rack comes complete with arms?

Actually at that price I'd like it to come with a complete brand-new car!

I could have the housing billeted in 6061-T6 or some other alloy, and a new rack machined, ground, hardened etc for well under £8K. It might even allow for a fully billeted pinion valve.
