I can vouch for the Xantia 16v Sx not being OBD2, but I am convinced the xantia 110hdi is, I have a geneic odb2 code reader which cleared fault codes from my xantia hdi 110, would not talk to the 16v petrol though.

The web site is an American one and they implemented OBD before we did. OBD II was manadatory for all cars sod in the US from 1996 onwards.

In Europe we have EOBD and this was manadatory for petrol cars from 2001 on and diesel from 2003 on. I still stand by what I said about the presence of the socket not being the same as EOBD compliant.

The list that the site gives for Citroen doesn't state which country the Xantia was tested in. Were they exported to America? If so, they would have to have been OBD II compliant. This is not necessarily the same as EOBD compliant AFAIK.

There are a few vehicles that seem to be compliant before it was mandatory. The Evasion, Saxo diesel and 2000 Polish Xsara petrol appear to be. Others that imply that they are do not have all the information necessary.

Having said all that I've never put a generic reader onto a Xantia so it's possible they were compliant. I doubt it though; especially as the early C5s weren't.

I've done it - used generic ODB-II protocol on a Xantia.

It raised some faults with odd code numbers (that didn't cross to PSA codes), wasn't always successful in clearing faults and couldn't talk to many of the sub-modules.

Can't see the point in not having the PP/Lexia software and dongle, now it's so commonplace. There's always going to be things a "smartphone" won't fix; one is just potentially making the point of ultimate failure an even less convenient distance from base!

FWIW I have the most difficulty with dialogue for the aircon ECUs on most PSA cars, followed by side airbags where fitted.

the HDIs with Bosch EDC15C2 ECUs are EOBD compliant. However not all fault codes or live data that are available to the factory tool can be read with an EOBD tool.

For example, disconnect the cam position sensor and try to start the engine. The factory tool will give a fault code whilst the EOBD tool won't.

the HDIs with Seimens SID801 ECU are not EOBD complaint.

I can't speak for all but this entry I most certainly can:

I tried a couple of OBD II readers on a 2000 Activa a while back and it sat there and did diddly squat...

I've seen many references to the TCT being OBDII compliant on a number of OBD II sites and they're all wrong

Live data is really important for "health checks".

Because many folks suspect parts commonly named on the internet, I show people the primary oxygen sensor steps, after explaining the range and stepped nature of it.

Ditto on the MAP data, IAT, coil rise times and injector dwell. Would be surprised if the android OBD-II readers could extract this data from interface with a PSA car...

Just to drag up an old thread, my Desire HD using the Torque program does indeed read more fault codes as I've had 2, first was pump error (almost out of diesel) and the other fault was when I unplugged something under the bonnet.

More Android devices are now coming with USBOTG (USB On The Go - meaning they can access and use USB devices if drivers have been written for them) so the possibility of a Pocket Lexia isn't that far away.
Who wants to chip in and buy Jim a Nexus 7 tablet so he can start learning how to program it?

The one that I have is from Ebay, just search 'OBD2 Bluetooth' mine is the same as the one with the blue and orange sticker on it.
